Music Scales

Scale is a sequence of musical notes with specific order. There are few types of scale such as pentatonic (5 notes) and diatonic (7 notes). In this article we will see about diatonic scale. In diatonic scale, the first note is called tonic. The second note to the rest of the notes are respectively called super tonic, median, sub dominant, dominant, sub median and leading note. Under diatonic scale, there are few types of scale based on the intervals between notes which are grouped under major and minor scales.

I will use "F" as full and "H" as half to represent the interval. Major scale the intervals are F-F-H-F-F-F-H. For minor scale, there are 3 types: natural, harmonic and melodic.

The natural minor scale is formed using intervals F-H-F-F-H-F-F. The harmonic minor scale intervals are F-H-F-F-H-FH-H. The melodic minor scale has different intervals between the ascending and descending. The ascending is F-H-F-F-F-F-H and the descending intervals are the same as natural minor scale.

Here are some examples:

C major: C-D-E-F-G-A-B-C.

A minor (natural): A-B-C-D-E-F-G-A

A minor (harmonic): A-B-C-D-E-F-G#-A

A minor (melodic): A-B-C-D-E-F#-G#-A (asc) and A-G-F-E-D-C-B-A (desc)

Conversation with my not so little anymore girl

I have not updating this blog about my days with kiddos for quite sometime. Probably 1-2 years 😅OK, so recently I have conversation with my not so little anymore girl and I found it is quite amusing  that I can’t help not to share. Why amusing, because  this was ask by kid who know internet much earlier than us as parents. I mean,  I know internet when I was teenager not before that 😅
This conversation happened two days ago on our way home.
.
A: mommy, can we start talking in short form? I think it will be fun.
M: huh? What do you mean?
A: ya talk full sentence is so boring. We can say like brb, omg or lol
M straight away laughing out as M feel it is quite funny but then M got an idea to show what it feel if we change some words with texting acronym in conversation...
M: do u mean i should stop laughing like just now and say “lol”? *laughing again* see my laughing is much better than just say “lol” it is so plain and boring. My laugh made the situation merrier instead of “lol”.
A: no. It is not boring. Do you actually know what brb is?
.
.
So the conversation go on on testing mommy with all acronyms that she knows (lucky enough i can answer 😅) and also inform her that these acronym is only for texting and doesn’t mean for face to face conversation / any phone call conversation.
.
Ok, probably this is just my feeling about acronyms such as brb, gtg, omg, etc but the idea of changing to acronym such as an act of laugh with just saying “lol” in conversation will be very monoton / boring.
What do you think?
.
Hopefully she will not ask me to draw icon to show the feeling 🤣
